Phase 3 : Mounting a new and much better beam for HF

After a while, the 3 element beam did not satisfy me anymore, and due to my interest in DXing, a better antenna was needed. After doing some research on the commerically available antennas, i choose a CUSHCRAFT X7. Because this has a bigger weight and longer elements than the 3 element Hy-Gain, the rotor needed replaced also. For convenience I purchased a Yeasu G-1000SX, which is capable of handling still bigger antennas than the Cushcraft, so yielding a large security range.

The mounting of the Cushcraft was done on August 26th, 1999 and the addition of the VHF beam on September 5th, 1999.

The antenna is assembled on the outer wall of my house.
Ready to be placed on the tower.
The tower, naked and awaiting a new antenna.
The cushcraft is pulled up on the tower.
The hard part of the work is done !
Mounting the VHF beam a few days later.
Aligning the VHF beam with the Cushcraft.
Everything ready to be used !!!

Wonna see me in detail working in my tower ? Click below for a 1024 x 750 pixel picture.

Phase 1 : Erection of a tower with a height of 24 meter and mounting of the VHF and UHF beams and omnidirectional antennas

Phase 2 : Removal of the upper part of the tower and mounting of a 3 element HF beam for 10, 15 and 20 meter

Phase 3 : Replacing the 3 element beam by a 7 element Cushcraft beam for 10, 15 and 20 meter
